If You Have Questions About...

Grief and Loss
Throughout life we experience many losses and feel grief about the changes that face us.

It might be:
Divorce
Death
Loss of health
Loss of a job
Death of a loved one
Loss of a pet
Graduation
A promotion
Getting married
Empty nest
Retirement

All these and other important changes bring a loss of the old life and demand learning to adjust to the new life.

Most of the time, we manage to accept the consequences these losses bring, though it usually takes a few months. If we still struggle after 3 to 4 months, we may need some extra support and counseling can be helpful.

Here are some symptoms that tell us, that we are having a hard time moving forward:

Disturbing Dreams
Crying without apparent reasons
Feeling lonely and isolated
A sense of hopelessness
Unprovoked anger
Difficulty in making decisions
Memory problems
Low energy
Longing for the pain to stop
Poor sleep or too little of it

Any of these symptoms can leave us feeling drained and unable to enjoy the day. We wish that we could have the comfort and ease that we felt before. It seems impossible that we could ever be happy again.

As we struggle to rebalance our life, there are several tasks we need to accomplish.

  • Accept what has happened as real.
  • Become aware of feelings and letting them be okay.
  • Incorporate the changes in life and make it part of our life story.
  • Invest in the new life and once again begin to thrive.
If you are struggling due to a loss, consider coming in and getting support in this journey. Working with clients with grief issues is one of my specialties. I will help you discover the path that is right for you to step into a new and once again happy life.
